Ciaran O' Driscoll

Revival Night’s Guest Poet is Ciaran O’Driscoll in the Whitehouse on Wed. 19th Jan. @ 9pm.

Ciaran O’Driscoll was born in Co. Kilkenny in 1943 and lives in Limerick. He has published six collections of poetry, the most recent of which is Life Monitor (Three Spires Press, 2009). Liverpool University Press issued his childhood memoir, A Runner Among Falling Leaves, in 2001. He is a former lecturer in art history, and a member of Aosdána. It could be said that just as some writers use humour as an antidote to despair Ciaran O’Driscoll uses humour to make expressions of anger more palatable. Ciaran O'Driscoll's poetry is sharp, lively and intelligent.

I once was a member of Ciaran O'Driscoll's writing workshop when we used to meet in the Glenworth Hotel. The group actually published a book of their work and it was called 'Easy Squares and Nervous Circles'

Come and taste wines from the Castillo Perelada Winery in Spain, eat your fill of delicious canapés and listen to some wonderful poetry. An evening of wine-tasting (courtesy of Blakes Fine Wines) and poetry with poet/blogger Kate Dempsey, Seamus O'Rourke and poet Tommy Murray.

We have an upstairs/downstairs situation

The evening will commence with a cava reception, and then once we've gotten everyone seated and done our introductions, etc., we'll have one poetry reading, followed by a wine-tasting, then the next poetry reading, followed by a wine-tasting, and so on ...

This would be the order for the evening.

The News

My first reading of 2011 has been confirmed and it will be in Cavan on the 27th January

Working on the Scurlogstown testimonial booklet and if anyone has a poem i will publish it in the book.
Will know in ten days if my latest book will in fact be published the publisher is waiting for a reader's report Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Just finishing my entry for Strokestown.and will get it away just before the closing date.

Children's classes resume on Saturday and the Meath Writers Circle will have their first meeting on Thursday next 13th January
